Free browser horror game

Maxrooms

Maxrooms is a free 3D backrooms game in your browser, made by Maximus Dev Tech. You slip out of the back of every MDT game into the empty, humming places behind them: endless liminal rooms under buzzing fluorescent lights that go on forever.

About Maxrooms

There are nine levels, each one an MDT game's place gone wrong: the Yellow Office, the Grand Hall Below (Maximus World), the Casino After Hours, Aisle Infinity (Florbmart), the Lower Decks (MDT Titanic), the Closed Wing (the Maxeum), Car Park -14 (MDT Racing), the Dead Station (Space Explorer) and the Changing Rooms (Legends Legacy FC). Every level is different every time a new world opens, and something lives in each of them.

How to play

  1. Walk with WASD (the stick on a phone) and look with the mouse (drag on a phone). Shift runs, but it tires you out. C crouches.
  2. Explore. There's no end and no win: find the Easter eggs left behind from every MDT game, and the free-standing doorways with a green EXIT sign that take you to another level.
  3. The creatures see you in the light and hear you run. If one sees you, break its line of sight round a corner and keep going.
  4. Look for the low gaps under the walls and crouch through them (you duck by yourself when you walk into one). Most creatures are too big to follow you.
  5. F switches on your torch (it helps you see, and helps them see you). G drops a glowstick to mark your way. Q shouts "Over here!" to everyone nearby.
  6. Signed in, you share one world with everyone else inside, and arrive within 100 metres of the others. When the last person leaves, that world is gone and the next one is brand new.
